The feds raided at least two Brooklyn adult day cares<\/a>\u00a0Tuesday alleging Medicaid fraud involving everything from money laundering to kickbacks, officials said.<\/p>\n

The crackdown\u00a0is part of a monthslong \u201cmassive effort to combat fraud and abuse\u201d involving some of the state\u2019s most vulnerable people, Gov. Kathy Hochul said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are targeting providers we believe who engaged in illegal activity ranging from money laundering to kickbacks to improper billing and other fraudulent activities,\u201d Hochul said at an unrelated press conference.<\/p>\n

Officers from law-enforcement agencies including Homeland Security Investigations were seen by The Post outside two of the suspected fraudulent adult day cares in Brooklyn.<\/a><\/p>\n

Photos captured the agents carrying evidence boxes from the locations \u2014 one in Sunset Park and the other in Borough Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cBilling public programs for care, transportation or other services that were never provided is fraud, NOT a paperwork mistake,\u2019\u2019 HSI wrote on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An HSI spokeswoman confirmed in a statement to The Post that the agency was\u00a0executing a \u201ccourt-authorized law enforcement action,\u201d though declined to comment further, citing an active investigation.<\/p>\n

Hochul said the enforcement was the latest action by her administration to strengthen oversight of adult day care programs<\/a> since she took office in 2021, saying over $15 billion dollars in Medicaid money had been saved as a result.<\/p>\n

Her administration has said it is committed to reining in New York\u2019s roughly $116 billion Medicaid program <\/a>by attacking fraud within the system, which is meant to provide healthcare benefits to low-income residents.<\/p>\n

But one of her signature efforts, an overhaul of the state\u2019s consumer-directed home care program<\/a>, or CDPAP, was\u00a0rigged, federal prosecutors allege.<\/p>\n

Hochul\u2019s administration has denied wrongdoing and moved to dismiss a federal lawsuit filed by the Trump administration<\/a> and targeting it earlier this year.<\/p>\n
