NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Federal agents were seen conducting investigations and raids across multiple locations in New York City on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The FBI, along with other law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, conducted enforcement activity in Queens, Staten Island and Brooklyn in connection with an ongoing federal investigation, a spokesperson for the FBI told NewsNation in a statement.<\/p>\n

Kathy Hochul said the investigation was part of a coordinated crackdown by the New York State Department of Health and the Office of Medicaid Inspector General on suspected fraud in social adult daycare programs.<\/p>\n Agents were seen going in and out of an alleged adult daycare on Eighth Avenue in Brooklyn around noon, with some carrying out boxes.<\/p>\n \u00a0More Local News\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n Authorities were also seen carrying out multiple bags of materials from a second adult daycare location along Fort Hamilton Parkway and 51st Street in Brooklyn. Police at the scene told PIX11 that a fraud investigation was underway.<\/p>\n Hochul says it’s been a months-long investigation in close partnership with the federal government.<\/p>\n “We’re targeting providers who’ve engaged in illegal activity ranging from money laundering to kickbacks to improper billing and other fraudulent activity,” said Hochul on Tuesday.<\/p>\n \u00a0Discover more stories shaping your neighborhood on our homepage\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n The governor says her administration has made over 100 referrals to the attorney general for investigation and prosecution.<\/p>\n “New York has zero tolerance for anyone who steals from taxpayers,” said Hochul. “So my message to anyone looking to cheat the system, we will find you, we’ll prosecute you, and we’ll hold you accountable.”<\/p>\n Dominique Jack is a digital content producer from Brooklyn with more than five years of experience covering news.
