Brooklyn Powerhouse Sports<\/a>, a new fitness and athletic training facility, is opening its first location.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Powerhouse has signed a 10,871-square-foot lease at Capstone Equities<\/a>\u2019 14 53rd Street, known as the Whale Building, near the shore of New York Harbor in Sunset Park, Commercial Observer has learned. The company will set up batting cages and a small office at the location.<\/p>\n

The tenant will occupy space on the property\u2019s third floor for eight years, at an asking rent of $28 per square foot, according to landlord broker Newmark<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis lease continues the transformation of the Whale Building into a destination for experiential and active tenants, joining Soccer Roof and the strong wave of leasing we\u2019ve completed at the property,\u201d Edward Kent of Capstone Equities said in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to bring a new sports and entertainment offering to Sunset Park and the broader Brooklyn community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bernard Weitzman, Ryan Gessin, Jordan Gosin and Rohan Kapur from Newmark represented the landlord in this deal. The brokers declined to comment.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Powerhouse\u2019s new Sunset Park facility will feature dedicated spaces for baseball and softball training, including batting cages and tech simulators.<\/p>\n

\u201cOpening Brooklyn Powerhouse Sports has been a dream of ours, and we\u2019re proud to bring Brooklyn its premier batting cage facility,\u201d Shamus Connolly, founder of Brooklyn Powerhouse Sports, said in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019ve designed this space for players of all abilities \u2014 from kids taking their first swings to seasoned athletes working on their mechanics. We can\u2019t wait to welcome the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tenant was represented by Whitten Morris from JLL<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBrooklyn Powerhouse Sports had a very specific vision for its first facility, so finding the right space was especially important,\u201d Morris said. \u201cThe property at 14 53rd Street offered the size and flexibility needed to bring that vision to life, while providing a strong foundation for the business as it establishes itself in Brooklyn.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Whale Building is a seven-story property built in 1918<\/a> by the E.W. Bliss Company. Today, the property houses office clients, art studios and sports facilities.<\/p>\n
