A democratic socialist City Council member skipped another slate of government hearings to head upstate \u2014 after The Post reported he had the worst attendance record of any local lawmaker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chi Oss\u00e9, a Democratic Socialists of American chum of Mayor Zohran Mamdani, ditched government hearings on Monday and Tuesday to instead travel multiple hours outside of his Brooklyn district to head to Rochester and Syracuse.<\/p>\n

The lefty council member, who had eyed then abandoned a primary run against US House of Representatives Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries last year, had announced that he\u2019d attend a \u201crally\u201d for lower electric bills on Monday \u2014 the same day The Post exposed his chronic absenteeism.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew York I\u2019m going on tour\u2026to take over our utilities! It\u2019s time to lower our energy bills and secure clean, renewable energy!,\u201d he wrote in a post to X.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oss\u00e9\u2019s out-of-district tour saw him miss an oversight hearing of \u201cCreateNYC\u201d \u2013 the Big Apple\u2019s first comprehensive cultural plan \u2014 and a pair of committee votes on an urban development project and a property tax exemption.<\/p>\n

The office-allergic politician already missed four of the council\u2019s 18 stated meetings in the 2025-2026 legislative sessions \u2013 the worst of any council member \u2013 and has only made it to 67.6% of his committee meetings, which makes him one of the six least engaged on the council.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oss\u00e9 brushed off The Post\u2019s reporting on his lackluster attendance record in a post to X Tuesday \u2014 claiming his chronic case of absenteeism was due to his work fighting energy company Con Edison.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been traveling across New York State fighting to take over ConEd to lower our energy bills! I promise I\u2019ll be back soon XO,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Oss\u00e9\u2019s upstate tour left one Democratic operative scratching their head.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis guy hasn\u2019t a clue what he\u2019s talking about,\u201d said the operative, who has lived in the Syracuse area for more than a decade.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t drive to Syracuse, meet a few people for a few minutes, put out a press release, and call that work. We call that cheap,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Tuesday rally in Syracuse coined \u201cTake Back Our Power\u201d was set to feature Oss\u00e9, state Assembly member Sarahana Shrestha, and Onondaga County Legislator Mo Brown. It was sponsored by the Syracuse branch of the DSA.<\/p>\n

\u201cRespectfully, focus on the issues of the constituents in your district, one X user wrote,\u201d in response to the rally flyer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
