The editorial boards of Rupert Murdoch\u2019s New York Post<\/a> and Wall Street Journal<\/a> this week both warned Donald Trump<\/a> against attending a proposed summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.<\/p>\n

Trump \u201cwould blow up the Republican Party<\/a>,\u201d declared the headline of the usually pro-Trump Post\u2019s editorial, which urged the president to reject Putin\u2019s proposed meeting at next month\u2019s APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit in Shenzhen, China.<\/p>\n

Putin has reportedly said the gathering would ostensibly focus on ending the war in Ukraine, which he launched in 2022. Trump has said he is open to meeting with the two leaders, but has suggested denuclearization be the focus.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf President Donald Trump wants a full-on riot within the Republican Party, going along with Vladimir Putin\u2019s idea for a \u2018Yalta 2\u2019 summit with Xi Jinping is the way to do it,\u201d the Post\u2019s board cautioned.<\/p>\n

Trump would be \u201cvolunteering to be outnumbered by our determined foes,\u201d the board warned. <\/p>\n

\u201cSimply announcing he means to do this would instantly prompt all-out rebellion by much of the GOP, further sinking the party\u2019s chances in the midterms,\u201d it added, calling it \u201csuch a gift to the Democrats<\/a> that it might hand them 60 Senate seats \u2014 enough to end an impeachment process with conviction.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Journal\u2019s editorial board, meanwhile, which has criticized Trump on multiple fronts during his second term, echoed the warning, saying \u201chis Yalta 2 courtship of Putin and Xi could blow up alliances at home and abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n

The danger, it argued, is that Trump, Xi and Putin \u201ctry to carve up the globe.\u201d<\/p>\n
