Owner Avtar Singh Walia\u2019s restaurant turned 25 this year. It first opened in Flatiron in 2001, <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2010\/4\/27\/6735783\/the-early-word-on-tamarinds-new-tribeca-location\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expanded<\/a> into Tribeca in 2010, and <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2013\/12\/20\/6309711\/the-original-tamarind-to-close-at-the-end-of-the-year\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shuttered<\/a> the original in 2013. Even New York-born-and-raised singer-songwriter Kelis is <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/dining-out-in-ny\/410456\/kelis-favorite-nyc-restaurants\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a huge fan<\/a> of the cooking here at this sprawling, elegant restaurant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph u67w0ti va4xi81 va4xi80 e8cira1\">It\u2019s a stunning space that\u2019s huge \u2014 two floors and 11,000 square feet. Ask for one of the luxe booths, which feel like a private nook.
