{"id":378874,"date":"2026-10-21T21:20:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-21T21:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/378874\/"},"modified":"2026-10-21T21:20:07","modified_gmt":"2026-10-21T21:20:07","slug":"catholic-charities-of-staten-island-set-for-weekend-fall-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/378874\/","title":{"rendered":"Catholic Charities of Staten Island Set for Weekend Fall Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Catholic Charities of Staten Island will hold its annual <a href=\"https:\/\/cc-si.org\/staten-island-fall-festival\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fall Festival<\/a> on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24-25, at its Mount Loretto campus on Staten Island.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Although a fire on Saturday, Oct. 17, damaged a \u201cvacant, unoccupied\u201d warehouse nearby, other buildings and the St. Joachim and St. Anne Church were not affected, the organization\u2019s CEO said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Saturday, October 17, a fire occurred in a vacant, unoccupied building on the Mount Loretto campus, located behind South Richmond High School,\u201d said Claire Atalla.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThankfully, no injuries were reported, and none of our programs or occupied buildings were affected.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the incident, we have been working closely with the appropriate agencies and contractors to secure the area and address any remaining safety concerns.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe extend our sincere gratitude to the FDNY and all first responders for their swift response and tireless efforts. We also thank our local elected officials, community partners, and neighbors for their concern and support,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCatholic Charities of Staten Island remains committed to serving our community, and we appreciate everyone\u2019s continued support,\u201d Atalla concluded.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One firefighter and one civilian sustained minor injuries, NBC 4 New York <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/news\/local\/cleanup-underway-after-massive-fire-rips-through-vacant-mount-loretto-warehouse\/6560638\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>, quoting the Fire Department of New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The festival, held from noon to 6 p.m. over the two weekend days, will feature the island\u2019s biggest pumpkin patch, rides, food vendors, a petting zoo, and music.
