Also held at The King’s Gallery, Royal Jewellery: From Coronations to Keepsakes is the first exhibition ever to explore 500 years of British royal jewellery. Opening in June 2027, the exhibition will present more than 300 pieces of jewellery from the 16th century to the present day, with two-thirds making their debut.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The in-depth array of items spans over five centuries, featuring items made by early royal goldsmiths to intricate designs by some of the world’s most famous jewellery makers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The jewel in the crown, quite literally, is the Diamond Diadem, created in 1820. Made for George IV’s Coronation, the sparkling circlet was immortalised in Dorothy Wilding’s 1952 portraits of\u00a0Queen Elizabeth II<\/a> and featured on billions of coins, banknotes, and postage stamps throughout Her Late Majesty’s 70-year reign.<\/p>\n

There’s also the sensational\u00a0Greville emerald and diamond necklace<\/a>, which the late monarch last wore in 2019. The spectacular relic was passed down to her after the Queen Mother<\/a> died in 2002.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another highly anticipated piece is the breathtaking Faberg\u00e9 aquamarine and diamond pendant, which was commissioned in 1909. Last worn by Elizabeth, it was first given to Queen Mary by her husband, King George V, before it was passed down to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There’s also Queen Victoria’s small diamond crown from 1870. The historical piece, designed by Garrard & Co., was placed on her coffin during her lying in state, and Queen Alexandra’s articulated serpent bracelet from 1870 is a memorable item. The embossed piece is set with diamonds and finished with a black pearl.<\/p>\n
