A lawsuit about a Staten
\n Island pizzeria \/ restaurant’s
\n payments to its workers veered
\n into an immigration dispute on
\n October 22. <\/p>\n

\u00a0 The
\n hearing was held by U.S.
\n District Court for the Eastern
\n District of New York
\n Magistrate Judge Marcia M.
\n Henry held a hearing; Inner
\n City Press, on the EDNY beat,
\n covered it.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\u00a0It is
\n Sanchez Ortega, et al. v.
\n Breaking Bread SI Inc.
\n including its owner Nicholas
\n R. Cammarato. The defendants’
\n lawyer said plaintiffs’ demand
\n before a mediator was
\n unreasonable, with “zero
\n chance” of settlement. <\/p>\n

\u00a0 Let’s
\n focus on the present
\n situation, Judge Henry said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Soon
\n defendants’ lawyer said, the
\n plaintiffs are asking for
\n money when they were out of
\n the country on vacation. If
\n under discover we could get
\n their passports–\u00a0\u00a0
\n <\/p>\n

No, the
\n plaintiffs’ lawyer cut in. We
\n need a ruling on this. There
\n is no reason to bring
\n immigration into
\n this.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Breaking Bread
\n will NOT be getting these
\n workers’ passports. But they
\n may get information related to
\n holding other jobs and even
\n flight information – just not
\n immigration. There are many to
\n see this, just as there are a
\n range of review of the
\n restaurant (which some call
\n just a pizzeria), see range here<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Mr.
\n Cammarato will be deposed, if
\n at all, in the last week of
\n January. And Judge Henry will
\n meet the parties in early
\n February. Inner City Press is
