\u201cSerial\u201d<\/a> host Sarah Koenig has returned to the podcast scene with \u201cMetro with Sarah Koenig,\u201d a new bi-weekly podcast made in partnership with the New York Times\u2019 Metro desk.<\/p>\n

A narrative podcast, \u201cMetro\u201d promises to bring the stories of New York City and New Yorkers themselves to listeners everywhere. Its first two episodes premiered Thursday and subsequent episodes are slated to release every other Thursday on all major podcast platforms.<\/p>\n

Building on her experience hosting and co-creating \u201cSerial,\u201d Koenig\u2019s new show hopes to combine her expertise as one of podcasting\u2019s most acclaimed hosts with the power and insight of the Times\u2019 Metro desk.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis show has been almost too easy to produce, because \u2013 who knew? \u2013 New Yorkers are the best talkers and storytellers,\u201d Koenig said in a statement. \u201cAfter spending more than a decade working on investigative, multi-episode series, I can\u2019t tell you what a pleasure it is to be able to just run out the door and find a great story. I\u2019m having an unseemly amount of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMetro\u201d is executive produced by fellow \u201cSerial\u201d co-creator and Serial Productions executive editor, Julie Snyder.<\/p>\n

Getting on the ground with everyday New Yorkers, \u201cMetro\u201d promises to offer a mix of investigative and personal stories, as well as essays and interviews meant to capture the expansive scope of New York City and the sheer breadth of humanity that it has to offer. Its episodes will spotlight stories reported by Koenig, reporters from the NYT Metro desk and the Serial Productions team.<\/p>\n

\u201cMetro\u201d marks a bit of a return to her roots for Koenig, who worked for a decade as a print journalist before joining the team at \u201cThis American Life\u201d in 2004. She has since won multiple journalistic prizes and awards for the work she has done with both \u201cSerial\u201d and \u201cThis American Life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The launch of \u201cMetro\u201d comes six years after Serial Productions became part of The New York Times Company<\/a>. In the years since then, the two parties have produced a number of other podcasts and shows, including \u201cNice White Parents,\u201d \u201cThe Improvement Association,\u201d \u201cThe Trojan Horse Affair,\u201d \u201cWe Were Three,\u201d \u201cThe Coldest Case in Laramie,\u201d \u201cThe Retrievals,\u201d \u201cThe Kids of Rutherford County,\u201d \u201cThe Good Whale,\u201d \u201cThe Preventionist\u201d and \u201cThe Idiot.\u201d<\/p>\n

There have been four seasons of \u201cSerial\u201d since its October 2014 debut.<\/p>\n
