{"id":3820,"date":"2025-10-15T18:53:25","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T18:53:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/3820\/"},"modified":"2025-10-15T18:53:25","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T18:53:25","slug":"paroled-murderer-gets-10-years-for-two-violent-brooklyn-attempted-store-robberies-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/3820\/","title":{"rendered":"Paroled murderer gets 10 years for two violent Brooklyn attempted store robberies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A murderer out on parole got 10 years in federal prison Wednesday after copping to a pair of attempted Brooklyn store robberies in which he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2024\/03\/17\/distinctive-sneakers-tie-killer-on-parole-to-violent-brooklyn-robbery-shooting-feds\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:shot a cashier in the leg;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">shot a cashier in the leg<\/a> and slashed a clerk\u2019s face.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mitchell Bostic, 52, was linked to one of those stickups, a Jan. 4, 2023, heist and shooting at a store on Van Sinderen Ave., through his <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nyed.511768\/gov.uscourts.nyed.511768.1.0.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:distinctive red-and-white sneakers.;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">distinctive red-and-white sneakers.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Bostic spent 26 years for the Nov. 24, 1992, shooting murder of a man in the Brownsville Houses on Sutter Ave., and since 2019 had been out on lifetime parole when he <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nyed.512669\/gov.uscourts.nyed.512669.33.0.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:committed the robberies.;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">committed the robberies.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cYou committed violent crimes while on lifetime parole for another violent crime, the murder of another human being,\u201d U.S. District Court Orelia Merchant told Bostic Wednesday before handing down the sentence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Bostic has already served 18 months of the sentence at the MDC Brooklyn jail while awaiting prosecution, and he still faces the prospect of being locked up on a parole violation once he\u2019s served his federal time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In the Jan. 4, 2023, robbery, Bostic walked into the store wearing a black puffer jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a blue surgical mask and black-red-and-white sneakers, according to federal prosecutors.
