Kennedy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DQ8TqPSAK0J\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">announced his bid<\/a> to fill the New York City House seat currently occupied by Rep. Jerrold Nadler, making him JFK\u2019s first direct descendent and latest member of his family to enter the political arena.<\/p>\n<p>A Democratic influencer, Schlossberg announced his run for Congress Wednesday in a video shared on social media. He\u2019s angling to fill the house seat Nadler, 78, who announced in September he would not seek reelection after 34 years representing Manhattanites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not running because <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/jack-schlossberg-house-new-york-jerry-nadler-6c924e46e00fa2ba7df903921f92091b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">I have all the answers to our problems<\/a>,\u201d Schlossberg, whose full name is John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg, said on Instagram. \u201cI\u2019m running because the people of New York 12 do. I want to listen to your struggles, hear your stories, amplify your voice, go to Washington and execute on your behalf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Without directly mentioning his famous family, Schlossberg goes on to explain he was \u201cborn and raised\u201d in the district, which includes much of Midtown Manhattan and the surrounding neighborhoods, stretching from the Upper West and East Sides to Roosevelt Island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI took the bus to school every single day from one side of the district to the other,\u201d he continued. (Michael Loccisano\/Getty Images for Empire State Realty Trust)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Schlossberg also cast his campaign as part of a broader Democratic effort to push back against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/07\/03\/republicans-pass-trump-big-beautiful-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">President Trump\u2019s agenda<\/a>, declaring that the country is at a \u201cturning point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/jfks-grandson-jack-schlossberg-announces-2026-run-nadlers\/story?id=127440606\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">crisis at every level,\u201d<\/a> he said. \u201cA cost of living crisis sponsored by the Big Beautiful Bill. Historic cuts to social programs working families rely on. Health care, education, child care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schlossberg added: \u201cWe deserve better, and we can do better, and it starts with the Democratic Party winning back control of the House of Representatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the leadup to the 2024 presidential election, Schlossberg saw his social media following explode as he dabbled in commentary, satire and impressions.
