Vance and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke L. Rollins announced that ranchers in 40 states are expected to receive $57 million to expand their capacity and create new and better markets through the <a href=\"https:\/\/links-1.govdelivery.com\/CL0\/https:%2F%2Fwww.rd.usda.gov%2Fprograms-services%2Fbusiness-programs%2Fmeat-and-poultry-processing-expansion-program%3Futm_medium=email%26utm_source=govdelivery%23:~:text=The%2520Meat%2520and%2520Poultry%2520Processing,more%2520processing%2520options%2520for%2520fishers.\/1\/010001a17a914cc3-864c68d2-cbfe-45bd-acc9-5bde2b4e0772-000000\/BxD5rTcSFjJ-LeNdU3M0HyliePqvIGo_H5gT_hc27RI=452\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program<\/a> (MPPEP).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPresident Trump is focused on putting American ranchers first, and we are committed to achieving this vision at USDA. Today\u2019s announcement to provide investments in small and medium sized meat processors builds on President Trump\u2019s Executive Order \u201cPromoting Fair Competition in Livestock Markets and Expanding Market Access for American Meat Producers,\u201d said Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins. \u201cWe are focused on rebuilding the Great American Cattle Herd, and providing more local processing opportunities will continue to give confidence to our ranchers to help us fulfill this goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MPPEP is managed by USDA Rural Development\u2019s Rural Business-Cooperative Services and pending Congressional allotment, will be investing a total of $57,424,130 in 147 tentative awards across 40 states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">USDA\u2019s MPPEP provides grants to help eligible independent processors expand their capacity. USDA Rural Development designed the program to encourage competition and sustainable growth in the United States meat processing sector and improve supply chain resiliency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eligible applicants include for\u2010profit and nonprofit entities, producer-owned cooperatives and corporations, certified benefit corporations, Tribes and Tribal entities, state or local government entities, and other <a href=\"https:\/\/bronx.com\/nyc-finances-continue-to-benefit-from-better-than-projected-revenue\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">business<\/a> types (regardless of legal structure). Private entities must be independently owned and operated, and all entities must be domestically owned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">USDA has awarded more than $200 million to independent businesses under the MPPEP program. These projects have created thousands of jobs across the country.
