Kathy Hochul’s advantage over Republican rival Bruce Blakeman has grown in the latest Siena University poll, released Wednesday morning.

Hochul’s lead over Blakeman, the Nassau County executive and GOP nominee for governor, is now at 54% to Blakeman’s 40%, up from her 50-41 advantage in September.

The governor’s favorability is also up, and it’s now over the 50% mark – 51%, to be exact. Sixty-eight percent of voters polled also think the governor will keep her office, including 40% of Republicans polled.

“And here’s the bottom line: for Republicans to win statewide, they must win convincingly upstate and in the downstate suburbs to offset the Democratic tsunami that is New York City, and they must win independents by a significant margin to offset Democrats’ two-to-one enrollment advantage,” said Siena pollster Steven Greenberg. “But with only a week to go, Blakeman and Hochul are running virtually evenly upstate and in the downstate suburbs, while Hochul has an 11-point lead with independents.”

Democrats in New York also increased their lead in the Siena polls across the board. Attorney General Letitia James gained two points from last month’s poll, now leading GOP nominee Saritha Komatireddy 54-39%, Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli extended his lead over Joseph Hernandez by three points, to 56-33%, and Congressional Democrats’ generic poll numbers also rose three points, to 51-40% over Republicans.

“While this is not a harbinger of what’s to come in any particular congressional district, it does signal that overall, New York voters, including independents by a 50-36% margin, prefer an unnamed Democrat over an unnamed Republican for election to the House,” Greenberg said.

President Donald Trump’s favorability numbers ticked slightly upward, to 36%, and his job approval also rose slightly, to 37%. The same can be said for Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) favorability rating, which went from 28% in September to 37% this month. However, 60% of voters polled say they oppose the way ICE works, and 62% say ICE has gone too far.

Those polled still think New York is headed in the wrong direction, with 49% of voters saying so, but those saying the state is going in the right direction ticked slightly upward from 38 to 41%. Two-thirds of voters polled, however, think the country is headed in the wrong direction.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani saw a slight rise in his favorability, to 47%, including a 69-28% advantage within the city — a rise of nine percentage points from September.

Gov.
