A rare Brooklyn Heights townhouse has hit the market for $12,995,000—complete with gas lanterns and hand-carved ironwork.

Built in 1906 in one of New York City‘s most prized enclaves, the home has a long list of lavish amenities, including a health and wellness gym, a steam shower and sauna, and a climate-controlled wine cellar.

“This is a 19th-century masterpiece,” explains listing agent Ravi Kantha with Serhant as he tours the property at 23 Middagh St. “On the outside, it’s been completely restored. But on the inside, there’s a different story. We have a renovated, classic contemporary masterpiece done by AD100 architect Deborah Berke from TenBerke Architecture.”

The home strikes an impressive first impression, with a magnificent parlor floor that boasts a soaring ceiling, stone fireplaces, and floor-to-ceiling windows.

A rear parlor holds a grand piano and overlooks the property’s private green garden. There’s also an elevator and a powder room located in the hallway, steps away.

“This is a formal, beautiful space that’s perfect for entertaining,” says Kantha. “But it’s also great to just relax at night by the fire with someone playing the piano.”

Exquisite attention to detail defines every inch of the home, from the intricate herringbone-patterned flooring to the molding to the windows. The bathrooms were also designed intentionally, with Kantha noting that each one “has its own distinct personality while sharing the same refined material palette.”

Downstairs, a garden level offers complete silence.

“To me, one of the defining characteristics of luxury in New York City real estate is silence inside, because there is no silence outside,” shares Kantha. “When you enter a home and hear nothing, it’s proof it’s been built to an exceptional standard with top-tier insulation and soundproofing.”

The kitchen is another sight to be seen, with Arabescato marble countertops and backsplashes stealing the show. The space is equipped with a farmhouse sink, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, a pantry, and an eat-in dining area.

The six-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home includes a basement level, a garden floor and a parlor floor, and three additional upper levels, each accessible by elevator.

The primary suite takes up an entire level, with a fireplace, custom walk-in closets, and two bathrooms. A dressing space is as gorgeous as it is functional, with bespoke millwork and ample shoe storage.

Additional space is available on the roof deck, which provides panoramic views of brownstone Brooklyn and the downtown Manhattan skyline.

Inside, there’s even a full laundry room, which, Kantha points out, is a “true convenience” in New York City.
