Instead, a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/nets\/onsi\/mikel-brown-jr-sends-message-to-nets-fans-after-tough-loss-in-boston\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> few plays down the stretch went Boston\u2019s way,<\/a> and the Nets fell for the fourth straight time to start 2026-27.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-blue my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"a1\">While a four-game losing streak is far from the end of the world for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/nets\/onsi\/three-takeaways-from-nets-heartbreaking-loss-to-celtics-01m6054skqzf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brooklyn<\/a>, it\u2019s certainly far from ideal to start the season in that fashion. If the Nets are going to find their way into the postseason picture, they\u2019ll soon need to start getting in the win column.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-3\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-blue my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"a6\">After some rough matchups early, the Nets showed on Tuesday that they\u2019re capable of competing against good competition. Unfortunately, competing and finishing with a win are two different things and have much different meanings for the standings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-blue my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"ab\">Moral victories are fine for a team like Brooklyn at this stage of a rebuild, but the goal of making the postseason still hinges on getting real wins for the standings. Given how Brooklyn has responded to its losses, it isn\u2019t taking any one defeat too hard or dwelling on the losing streak.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-blue my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"ag\">As promising as that is for the team moving forward, the losses are still piling up for a Nets team that may already need everything to go its way to be in the postseason conversation after the All-Star break.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-blue my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"al\">Going into their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/nets\/onsi\/can-the-brooklyn-nets-get-their-first-win-of-the-season-against-pistons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NBA Cup game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday night<\/a>, the Nets will be one of only teams without a win, and the lone winless team in the East. While they\u2019ll get a chance to play in Barclays Center on Friday night, the Nets\u2019 upcoming slate is filled with road matchups.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-blue my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"aq\">Six of the Nets\u2019 next eight games will come away from home, which may only make things more difficult. A tough early stretch isn\u2019t impossible to recover from, but the longer the Nets stay winless, the harder it will be to dig themselves out of a hole.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-blue my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"av\">Still, there\u2019s some hope for Brooklyn in the form of the rest of the Eastern Conference standings.
