Listen, it\u2019s not as though getting an apartment in New York has ever been easy. But one could probably argue it has never been harder than it is right now. The most god-awful studios are regularly renting for thousands and thousands of dollars with lines of interested tenants out the door. Here, we\u2019ll find the actually worth-looking-ats, the actually worth-the-costs, and the surprisingly affordable-for-those-parquet-floors from around the internet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

First of all, a shout-out to the creators behind Ohana, the subletting site, who are making important journalistic video content like this<\/a>. Second of all, the housing crisis is on the ballot<\/a>, so get out and vote<\/a>! Third of all \u2014 and this is neither here nor there \u2014 New York City now has its very own Vegas-style elopement center, and I can\u2019t stop looking through the photos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And lastly, we hit Clinton Hill, Ditmas Park, Crown Heights, Bay Ridge, and more this week \u2014 a lot of great Victorian-era finds, prewars (as always), and even a tentative foray into new-build territory. Growth!<\/p>\n

$15,000, 3-bedroom (pictured above):<\/a> Who am I to assume you\u2019re not looking for a three-bedroom house for $15,000 a month? Particularly drool-worthy double-height living room with exposed beams and a winding stair.<\/p>\n

$4,850, 2-bedroom:<\/a> Not cheap by any means (especially in a transit desert), but these downsides are offset by Juliet windows, a very dignified rooftop dining area, and lots of natural light.<\/p>\n

$3,899, 1-bedroom:<\/a> A totally whatever floor-through with that shiny red stain that I don\u2019t love. But maybe you do?<\/p>\n

$13,000, 6-bedroom:<\/a> A whole fabulous Victorian house for all 12 of your children! Whatever you do: DO. NOT. TOUCH. THE. KITCHEN! (Or the mahogany-clad study, or the living room, floors, pocket doors, and windows, okay?).<\/p>\n

$3,600, 2-bedroom (pictured below):<\/a> I\u2019m trying to expand my horizons and look beyond the charming prewar and straight into the eyes of this amenity-rich (bike room, gym, shared office space, etc.) new build. I don\u2019t hate the concrete ceilings and walls, and the wood floors aren\u2019t horrible, either.<\/p>\n

$4,999, 4-bedroom:<\/a> A lot of real estate under this turn-of-the-century roof \u2014 windows galore, nice parquet, and some stained glass. Oh, and a broom closet that looks cozy.<\/p>\n

$2,750, 1-bedroom:<\/a> Affordable and spacious prewar with a strange little stage at the entryway of the kitchen and leafy views from the bedroom.<\/p>\n

$2,400, 1-bedroom:<\/a> Adorable attic apartment with sloped ceilings and terrible photography, tucked inside an equally adorable baby-blue Victorian. Dare I say, it\u2019s Victorable \u2026.<\/p>\n

$5,495, 3-bedroom:<\/a> Prewar with some unusually delightful latticework. The elaborate paneling in the dining room is the highlight for me.<\/p>\n

$4,650, 2-bedroom:<\/a>\u00a0 A beautiful parlor-floor apartment with some details that need attention (the oddly bisected heart-shaped appliqu\u00e9 on the wall in image No. 7, the hallway tile that looks like Formica, and all the light fixtures, woof).<\/p>\n

$4,000, 3.5-bedroom:<\/a> There\u2019s no floor plan for this brownstone apartment, so I\u2019m slightly mystified by how they fit three and a half bedrooms on one floor (and what on earth is a half-bedroom, anyhow?), but hey, if you put your mind to it, anything is possible. A little heavy-handed on the reno; if you squint, you can just make out the original details.<\/p>\n

$3,250, 1-bedroom (pictured below):<\/a> Cutie garden-level apartment with a charming exposed-brick fireplace and nicely under-stained hardwood floors.<\/p>\n

$2,850, 1-bedroom:<\/a> Yes, getting from Bay Ridge to Manhattan and back is a trek, but at least when you get home it\u2019s to this charming railroad apartment with pretty parquet and some pastel paint choices that I\u2019m finding kind of soothing right now.<\/p>\n

$3,600, 2-bedroom (pictured below):<\/a> Railroad apartment in a brownstone with tin ceilings and original wainscoting. You\u2019ll need radiator covers, but I just learned they make cute ones!<\/a><\/p>\n

$3,000, 1-bedroom:<\/a> \u00a0Sweet apartment in a detached postwar brick house with 1,200 square feet of living space and a charming terrace overlooking a gorgeous tree-lined street.<\/p>\n

$3,500, 2-bedroom (pictured below):<\/a> Lovely prewar with sunken living room (I think it\u2019s the gate that gets me good), curved passageways, and too many ugly sconces. Arrive prepared to get sconcing.<\/p>\n

$5,200, 2-bedroom: <\/a>Large-format black-and-white tiles in the kitchen are the pull for me in what\u2019s otherwise a pretty average apartment that\u2019s just close enough to the park to explain the price.<\/p>\n
