Before his death at age 86, \u201cStar Trek\u201d legend Patrick Stewart<\/a> was more than a Hollywood icon\u2014he was a beloved Brooklyn neighbor.<\/p>\n

The British actor, who died Wednesday following a brief battle with Alzheimer\u2019s disease and Lewy body dementia, became a famed fixture in Park Slope after purchasing a $2.5 million duplex in 2012.<\/p>\n

His arrival made waves in the brownstone-lined neighborhood, where the Shakespearean actor embraced Brooklyn life far from the Hollywood spotlight\u2014having GQ label him the \u201ccoolest guy ever\u201d as a result.<\/p>\n

The three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom condo, inside a converted carriage house on Seventh Street, featured 2,176 square feet of living space, a private elevator, a fireplace and a sprawling rooftop terrace, according to the original listing.<\/p>\n

And, ultimately, he had a good run there.<\/p>\n

The property quietly changed hands for $3.9 million in July 2025, according to city records\u2014$1.4 million more than Stewart\u2019s 2012 purchase price. At the time of that sale, the listing\u2014as seen in Compass marketing materials\u2014detailed the chic nest inside a converted carriage house. Other perks include a 31-foot living, dining and kitchen area and access via a keyed elevator.<\/p>\n

The current owner\u2019s identity is shielded by an LLC.<\/p>\n

But it was his affection for the neighborhood that made the actor a local favorite.<\/p>\n

In 2013, Stewart sparked an internet frenzy after posting a photo of himself eating his first-ever New York<\/a>-style pizza slice at Smiling Pizza in Park Slope.<\/p>\n

The then-72-year-old later clarified that he had eaten pizza before\u2014just never a slice on its own.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Stewart attended a local block party<\/a>, celebrating the community he affectionately called his \u201cbeloved neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHere, you\u2019re a neighbor,\u201d local designer Lawrence \u201cXL\u201d Abdullah told Patch at the time.<\/p>\n

Stewart, best known for portraying Captain Jean-Luc Picard in \u201cStar Trek: The Next Generation\u201d and Professor Charles Xavier in the \u201cX-Men\u201d films, died in Los Angeles surrounded by loved ones<\/a>.<\/p>\n
