Clinton Hill Neo-Grec With Marble Mantels, Coffin Corner Asks $2.22 Million<\/a><\/p>\n

They are encased in a rather petite package, but this Clinton Hill brownstone has marble mantels, built-ins, wood floors, a curving staircase with an arched niche (aka coffin corner), and other 19th century details. In estate condition, this Neo-Grec dwelling is a bit of a time capsule with well-preserved original details in need of burnishing along with some modern updates.<\/p>\n

Artists\u2019 Gowanus Row House With Wood Floors, Tin Ceilings Asks $3.4 Million<\/a><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a residence that still has an early brownstoner renovation feel about it, which is fitting as it has been in the same family since two artists (also preservationists and activists) bought it in the 1970s. At 393 President Street in Gowanus, the brick row house has artsy charm with wood floors, exposed brick, tin ceilings, and a skylit top floor studio space.<\/p>\n

The Insider: New Top Floor Extends Living Space in Park Slope Carriage House<\/a><\/p>\n

A thousand extra square feet of living space was a welcome addition to a historic carriage house. Its interior had long ago been modernized to include an expansive courtyard on the ground level, open to the sky. While the atrium brought in abundant light for a \u201creally beautiful indoor-outdoor experience,\u201d in the words of architect Christine Harper<\/a>, who masterminded the more recent renovation, it also ate up a great deal of floor area, as did a garage at the front of the building.<\/p>\n

Bay Ridge Locals Seek Landmarking for Visitation Academy and Monastery<\/a><\/p>\n

Bay Ridge residents are calling on the city to designate the neighborhood\u2019s Visitation Academy and Monastery as an individual landmark to preserve a piece of \u201chistory that belongs to all of New York City, all people of faith, all women,\u201d as Visitation alumnus Caroline Cardillo put it. The preservation effort, supported by the local council member and at least one preservation group, comes as the site faces likely redevelopment with an impending sale.<\/p>\n
