On Saturday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared the mother of the teen fatally shot in Claremont on Oct. 29 was going to get to say goodbye to her son in person. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe murder of a child is a pain no parent should have to endure, let alone from thousands of miles away,\u201d said Mamdani. \u201cJavits Frimpong\u2019s mother deserves to say goodbye to her son in person. I just got off the phone with President Trump and he has agreed to grant her visa immediately.\u201d <\/p>\n
The mayor also added, \u201cAll of New York City is mourning this tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The announcement comes as the teen\u2019s death has sparked rallies throughout the Bronx while the suspects are still on the run. <\/p>\n
Police say Frimpong was shot in the stomach on his way to school on Oct. 29 just before 9:30 a.m. Surveillance video shows the teen running from the alleged gunman. <\/p>\n
Families also claim the teen was being bullied at William H Taft High School and had reported the incidents. <\/p>\n
Investigators believe three people, between the ages of 16 to 18, are behind the deadly gunfire. <\/p>\n
Advocates tell News 12 a peaceful protest is scheduled for Monday outside of the teen’s high school to talk about gun violence, anti-bullying laws and call for justice for Javits Frimpong. <\/p>\n
