{"id":391602,"date":"2026-11-03T02:44:14","date_gmt":"2026-11-03T02:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/391602\/"},"modified":"2026-11-03T02:44:14","modified_gmt":"2026-11-03T02:44:14","slug":"queens-west-expansion-reaches-major-construction-milestone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/391602\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen\u2019s-West expansion reaches major construction milestone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) &#8211; A major expansion of The Queen\u2019s Medical Center \u2013 West Oahu has reached a new construction milestone as the hospital works to meet growing demand for emergency care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Queen\u2019s Health Systems held a topping-off ceremony Friday, Oct. 30, marking the placement of the final structural beam on its new three-story facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The 80,000-square-foot expansion will more than double the size of the hospital\u2019s emergency department, adding 32 care spaces for a total of 55.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The project will also add 48 private inpatient rooms across two floors, bringing the hospital\u2019s total to 152 patient rooms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Located in Ewa, Queen\u2019s-West operates the second-busiest emergency department in the state, behind The Queen\u2019s Medical Center \u2013 Punchbowl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hospital officials said emergency department visits have increased by an average of 5% annually over the past five years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAs our community grows, so does the need for timely, accessible emergency care,\u201d said Robin Kalohelani, chief operating officer for Queen\u2019s-West and Queen\u2019s-Wahiaw\u0101.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The expansion will also feature advanced imaging capabilities and specialized treatment areas designed to improve patient care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Construction is expected to be completed in late 2028.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Hawaii News Now.
