The federal government is now re-opened and representatives across New York are split on the decision to\u00a0end\u00a0the record 43-day shutdown.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Third Upstate Medical University employee detained by ICE<\/a><\/p>\n

Another employee of Syracuse’s Upstate Medical University was detained on Tuesday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This comes on the heels of\u00a0two other employees who were detained two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Syracuse City School District creates 13 new positions to address payroll issues<\/a><\/p>\n

Persistent payroll issues within the Syracuse City School District have prompted it to create more than a dozen new positions to deal with the problems. Hundreds of employees have been underpaid or weren’t paid at all after the district transitioned from PeopleSoft to an Oracle Cloud platform earlier this year.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Nonprofit named for Oswego County child helps families with weekend groceries<\/a><\/p>\n

There\u2019s an organization in Oswego County that\u2019s helping kids stay fed through the weekend. Erin\u2019s Angels focuses on the problem of child hunger and is run mostly by volunteers.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Kiyan Anthony carrying on family legacy at Syracuse<\/a><\/p>\n

Kiyan Anthony, son of SU legend Carmelo Anthony, is a freshman on Syracuse\u2019s basketball team. He is already making his mark this season, averaging 17 points per game, second most on the team.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0Takeaways from the newly released Epstein documents<\/a><\/p>\n

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee\u00a0initially released three emails\u00a0where Epstein mentioned President Donald Trump.
