11\/6; 12:04 p.m.\u2014Blake Gendebien has officially conceded the race for New York\u2019s 21st Congressional District.<\/p>\n

The following statement was released:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t the outcome we worked for, but I\u2019m proud of the campaign we ran and the coalition we built. There are still votes left to count, but the math is clear, and I respect the choice voters made. Two years ago, plenty of people said a Democrat couldn\u2019t compete here. Together, we moved every county in this district by double digits. To the more than 85,000 people who chipped in, and to the union members, nurses, teachers, and farmers who gave up their evenings and weekends to knock doors, thank you. What we built doesn\u2019t disappear with this result. It\u2019s the foundation for whatever comes next. As I said on Election Night, I hope Anthony Constantino will put the North Country first in Congress. It has been the honor of my life to be your candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n

CANTON, N.Y. — Democrat Blake Gendebien has released a statement in regard to the race for New York’s 21st Congressional District.<\/p>\n

The following is Gendebien’s statement that was received shortly after midnight:\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI respect my friends and neighbors too much to concede this race before every vote is counted, but it appears that Anthony Constantino will narrowly win. This isn\u2019t the outcome we worked for, but I could not be more proud of the campaign we ran and the coalition we built,\u201d said Gendebien. \u201cI wish Anthony Constantino well in Congress, and I hope he\u2019ll always put the North Country first. To the more than 85,000 people who chipped in, and to the union members, nurses, teachers, and farmers who gave up their evenings and weekends to knock doors, thank you. You proved that a farmer from Lisbon could put up a strong fight in every corner of this district, and that people here want leaders focused on their lives, not party labels. It has been the honor of my life to be your candidate. I\u2019ll carry the stories of the farmers, veterans, nurses, and working families I met with me every day, and Carmen and I will never stop fighting for this place we love.\u201d<\/p>\n
