Gibson\u2019s Office kicked off October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with a special resource event on Wednesday, Oct. 1, outside Bronx Borough Hall, located at 851 Grand Concourse.<\/p>\n<p>The event, held in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essenhealthcare.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Essen Health Care<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">American Cancer Society<\/a>, featured tables set up by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nychealthandhospitals.org\/locations\/lincoln\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">NYC Health + Hospitals\/Lincoln<\/a> and Essen Health Care that provided community members with valuable resources, including free mammogram referrals, upcoming events, gifts and more.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-134903\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_9932.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\"  \/>Members of NYC Health + Hospitals\/Lincoln provided resources related to breast cancer at the event. Photo by Jewel Webber<\/p>\n<p>Spreading awareness to community members about breast cancer is very important to these organizations, as early detection of the disease can prove to be life-saving. Additionally, not everyone may be able to afford getting screened, making the free mammogram screenings all the more important.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-134901\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_9929.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\"  \/>Essen Health Care partnered with Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson\u2019s Office and the American Cancer Society to hold this event. They also had a table on hand.
