A franchisee of Freddy\u2019s Frozen Custard & Steakburger has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.<\/p>\n

The chain is based in Wichita, Kansas, and it rivals Dairy Queen with its frozen custard and burger<\/a> options. It’s menu includes steakburgers<\/a>, grilled cheese, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and, of course, its rich, freshly-churned custard. The franchisee M&M Custard LLC and 31 affiliates filed for bankruptcy protection in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas.<\/p>\n

The franchisee listed $5.2 million in assets and $27.7 million in liabilities, and it had between 100 and 199 creditors. The fast food group<\/a> runs several Freddy\u2019s locations across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.<\/p>\n

There were 32 Freddy\u2019s restaurants listed in the filing, but all will continue to operate. M&M Custard LLC is the largest franchisee of Freddy\u2019s Frozen Custard, but it doesn\u2019t own the brand itself.<\/p>\n

Some fans say Freddy\u2019s is better than its counterparts. One user on Reddit compared it to Dairy Queen, saying the frozen custard offered different flavors.<\/p>\n

They said, \u201cI tried the custard on another occasion. It was decent. Similar to Dairy Queen but maybe better presentation and aesthetic. The taste is different too. Probably fair to say that it’s richer and creamier. I’m happy to have it around as an option for those kinds of desserts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another said, \u201cI absolutely loved it, should try a double grilled cheese steakburger. That might be my favourite thing I\u2019ve ever had from any type of fast food\/restaurant.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third added, “It was pretty good. Fast service and the ice cream is great.
