During the mayoral campaign, Mr. Trump had<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/trump-cuomo-nyc-mayor-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> warned New Yorkers against voting for Mamdani<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-mamdani-cuomo-nyc-mayor-60-minutes-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">threatened to pull federal funding for the city<\/a> if Mamdani was elected. Mr. Trump has repeatedly called Mamdani, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/zohran-mamdani-socialist-2026-midterms-means-for-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">democratic socialist<\/a>, a &#8220;communist.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters in Palm Beach, Florida, Mr. Trump said they&#8217;ll &#8220;work something out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The mayor of New York, I will say, would like to meet with us and we&#8217;ll work something out. But he would like to come to Washington and meet, and we&#8217;ll work something out.
