WAYNE – Wayne State used 53 percent shooting and four players reached double figures as the Wildcats downed Manhattan Christian 95-58 Monday evening in non-conference men\u2019s basketball played at Rice Auditorium.<\/p>\n
WSC is now 2-1 while the contest was an exhibition game for the 2-2 Thunder.<\/p>\n
Seven minutes into the contest the Wildcats built a double-digit lead as Aurrion Harris hit a jumper to put WSC ahead 19-8 with 13:05 to play in the first half.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Wildcats maintained their double-digit lead throughout the half and pushed the lead to 27 at intermission leading 53-26.<\/p>\n
All 13 players saw action for the \u2018Cats in the second half, who shot 57 percent from the field making 16 of 28 shots.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Wayne State\u2019s biggest lead of the game came at 91-47 with 3:06 left in the game on a Darshan Thomas layup and the Wildcats ended the night with a 95-58 victory.<\/p>\n
13 different players scored for WSC, led by Kai Smith\u2019s 14 points.\u00a0 Noll and Aurrion Harris each chipped in 13 while Benjamin Kerkhoff added 12.<\/p>\n
Wayne State was 33 of 62 shooting for 53.2 percent, going 9 of 22 from the 3-point line, while making 20 of 28 free throws for 71.4 percent.<\/p>\n
For Manhattan Christian, Fred Criqui and Colby Frehe each scored 10 points.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Thunder connected on 24 of 59 shots for 40.7 percent, including 4 of 16 from the 3-point line.\u00a0 MC made 6 of 10 free throws.<\/p>\n
WSC was out-rebounded in the contest 38-33 as Thomas hauled in six boards for the \u2018Cats.<\/p>\n
JJ Ferrin was credited with seven assists, Noll had four blocked shots and Harris and Smith each recorded three steals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
