An\u00a0illegal immigrant<\/a>\u00a0and international criminal fugitive managed to get a legal New York State driver\u2019s license to pull off a jewelry heist \u2013 using the name of British soccer great David Beckham, Nassau County officials said Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Romanian national, who snuck across the US border via Mexico in 2022, is part of a \u201cgypsy\u201d crime ring and has used so many aliases that cops don\u2019t know his real name, County Executive Bruce Blakeman said at a press conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were visited, apparently, by a celebrity in Nassau County \u2013 David Beckham,\u201d Blakeman told reporters. \u201cAlthough this isn\u2019t a soccer player, this is a celebrity because this individual is wanted in many countries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nassau<\/a>\u00a0cops said the fugitive and his girlfriend, identified as Veta Rostas, walked into Kravitz Jewelry in Oceanside on Oct. 23 and slipped out with\u00a0an $11,000\u00a0diamond bracelet.<\/p>\n

Cops used face-recognition technology from security surveillance cameras and released an intelligence bulletin that reached a crime analyst in the UK who ID\u2019d the fugitive.<\/p>\n

Nassau County cops were then able to track him down and busted him on Sunday for the jewelry heist.<\/p>\n

The scandal over the immigrant\u2019s driver\u2019s license is just the latest example of illegals getting legit driving privileges,\u00a0primarily in migrant friend sanctuary states.<\/p>\n

In September, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt flipped out after cops in his state nabbed an immigrant with an Empire State commercial driver\u2019s license that bizarrely identified the migrant as \u201cNo Name Given.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The migrant was swept up with 125 others in a raid.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf New York wants to hand out CDLs to illegal immigrants with \u2018No Name Given,\u2019 that\u2019s on them,\u201d Stitt railed online. \u201cThe moment they cross into Oklahoma, they answer to our laws.\u201d<\/p>\n

New York DMV officials confirmed to The Post that the license was issued on April 14, and maintained it was \u201cissued in accordance with all proper procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said at a press conference that the Romanian national is part of a \u201cgypsy\u201d crime ring and has used so many aliases that cops don\u2019t know his real name NCDA<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not uncommon for individuals from other countries to have only one name,\u201d the agency said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But that wasn\u2019t the only example: Earlier this month, an illegal immigrant and wanted terrorist from Uzbekistan was nabbed in Kansas with a legal commercial license from Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

Akhror Bozorov<\/a>, 31, was nabbed entering the US illegally but released under Biden administration policies, the feds said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis should go without saying,\u201d DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said at the time. \u201cBut terrorist illegal aliens should not be operating 18-wheelers on America\u2019s highways.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gov. Kathy Hochul and officials at DMV did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the latest case.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBeckham\u201d has now been turned over to federal immigration officials for deportation \u2014 even though only one thing is certain about the name on his driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n
