Former NBA player and Barstool Sports podcast host Patrick Beverley\u2019s Nov. 14 arrest<\/a> was over accusations he punched and choked his sister in an ugly incident.<\/p>\n

According to court documents viewed by The Post, Beverley\u2019s sister, 15, claimed she left her Fort Bend house without permission to see her boyfriend, 18. When she returned, her mother and Beverley confronted her, with the 37-year-old grabbing her \u201cby her neck with both hands, and picked her up off the ground, by having her feet come up from the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n

She claims the 6-foot-2 ex-NBAer \u201csqueezed her neck causing her to feel pain,\u201d for 20-30 seconds, leaving her to feel \u201cshe was losing oxygen and not able to breathe.\u201d <\/p>\n

He allegedly then took her out of the room by her neck, laid her on a couch and punched her \u201capproximately one time on her left eye with a closed fist,\u201d purportedly adding that he \u201cwill be the family relative to kill her.\u201d <\/p>\n

The boyfriend was asked to leave the house and was followed by Beverley.<\/p>\n

Police officials responded to the boyfriend\u2019s call for assistance and and found the sister to have \u201cmarkings\u201d on her neck and petechiae in the whites of her eyes.<\/p>\n

He was taken into custody at Fort Bend County jail on a third-degree assault charge and was bonded out for $40,000.<\/p>\n

Later that day, Beverley took to social media to seemingly respond to news of the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease don\u2019t believe everything you see on the internet,\u201d he wrote on X. \u201cHope all is well.\u201d<\/p>\n

He attempted to further clarify the situation with a follow-up post.<\/p>\n

\u201cPatrick Beverley has no criminal record,\u201d a post to his social media accounts on Nov. 14 reads. \u201cHe cares deeply about his little sister \u2014 a young lady, a minor. Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we don\u2019t believe what followed happened the way it\u2019s been described, and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third-degree felony in Texas carries punishment of two to 10 years in prison if convicted.<\/p>\n

Beverley last played in the NBA in 2023-24, splitting 73 games between the 76ers and Bucks.
