BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Brooklyn man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for killing a man in 2022 and cutting off his head, arms, and legs, which were found in a refrigerator freezer years later, prosecutors said.

Nicholas McGee, 48, of Flatbush, was sentenced Wednesday to life without parole after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder and concealment of a human corpse last month, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.

“This was a deeply disturbing act of violence by a defendant who not only stole a man’s life but then desecrated his body. The cruelty and disregard for human life shown in the case are almost beyond comprehension,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.

McGee stabbed Kawsheen Gelzer, 39, in the back while he slept on a sofa in the defendant’s Nostrand Avenue apartment in March 2022. The victim suffered more than 60 cuts to his head, chest, and extremities, prosecutors said. McGee also beat Gelzer with a hammer during the attack.

The defendant dragged the body to a bathroom and put it in the bathtub for several days before using a saw and hammer to dismember the victim, authorities said.

Gelzer’s head, torso, arms, and legs were found wrapped in plastic bags inside a refrigerator freezer in the defendant’s apartment after cops got an anonymous tip in January 2024, according to prosecutors.

McGee confessed to the grisly murder to NYPD detectives while he was in custody for an unrelated matter in Virginia, authorities said.

The defendant’s wife, Heather Stine, 48, pleaded guilty last year to concealment of a human corpse and third-degree bail jumping, prosecutors said. She will be sentenced at a later date.
