Council Member Susan Zhuang\u2019s Office says a Brooklyn mother was detained by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Bensonhurst.<\/p>\n
The incident happened Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. Witnesses saw ICE agents, some wearing bulletproof vests, arrive in four vehicles.<\/p>\n
Zhuang, a councilmember for District 43, was alerted to her detainment through community calls.<\/p>\n
The councilmember’s office says it is trying to get in contact with the woman\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
Zhuang issued the following statement:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were told ICE would focus on criminals, not hard-working immigrant families. Stop tearing these families apart. Every person deserves due process.
