Ahead of their first official show in seven years<\/a> on Saturday at Dublin\u2019s 3Arena, shoegaze icons My Bloody Valentine warmed up with a surprise show on Wednesday night. (The show was billed as \u201cIsn\u2019t Anything,\u201d aka the name of their 1988 album.) Initially it was to be at a smaller Dublin venue but demand had it moved to the 2000-capacity National Stadium. Technical problems with their ticket scanner meant people didn\u2019t actually get into the club till nearly 9 PM \u2014 they ended up giving up on scanning and just letting people in.<\/p>\n

For those hoping for new songs, sorry, out of luck, but they did give Glider EP\u2018s \u201cOff Your Face\u201d its live debut. Otherwise it was a nice mix of tracks from throughout their discography, including \u201cHoney Power,\u201d \u201cOnly Shallow,\u201d \u201cNew You,\u201d \u201cTo Here Knows When,\u201d \u201cThorn,\u201d \u201cCigarette in Your Bed,\u201d \u201cCome In Alone,\u201d \u201cSoon,\u201d and more. As usual, the night ended with the noise-fueled tinnitus-inducing \u201cYou Made Me Realise.\u201d Check out the full setlist below.<\/p>\n

After Saturday\u2019s Dublin show, MBV will play Manchester, London, and Glasgow, and then head to Japan in February. After that it\u2019s nothing till Primavera Sound<\/a> in June. Let\u2019s hope they add North American shows!<\/p>\n
