STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Police have identified Robert Farina, 60, of Port Richmond, as the victim in a fatal crash that occurred last month in Greenridge.<\/p>\n
According to the NYPD, on Sunday, Oct. 26, at approximately 6:45 p.m., police received a report of a pedestrian struck at Arthur Kill Road and Richmond Avenue. <\/p>\n
That intersection was listed as one of the most dangerous on Staten Island<\/a> based on 2024 crash data.<\/p>\n The NYPD Highway District\u2019s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2013 Honda Civic, operated by an 80-year-old female, was traveling westbound on Arthur Kill Road when she struck Farina, police said.<\/p>\n Farina was rushed by EMS to Northwell Staten Island University Hospital, Prince\u2019s Bay, in stable condition but later died from his injuries, according to a statement released by the NYPD.<\/p>\n No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District\u2019s Collision Investigation Squad, police said. <\/p>\n 2nd fatal crash in October<\/p>\n The fatal crash occurred weeks after 66-year-old Meiyun Chen of Charleston<\/a> was struck and killed at Veterans Road East and Bloomingdale Road in her neighborhood.<\/p>\n An investigation into that crash indicated that a 48-year-old woman was operating a 2024 Mazda CX-90 traveling eastbound on Veterans Road East when she struck Chen, the NYPD said.<\/p>\n EMS transported Chen to Northwell Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, where she died, a police spokesperson told the Advance\/SILive.com.<\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
