New York City students in both public and Catholic schools will have off from classes for two days next week.

Schools will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, for Thanksgiving recess — offering an extended weekend for students due to the holiday break.

It means that students will attend classes Monday through Wednesday next week. Then, they will have off on Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 27, and the following day on Friday, Nov. 28, which is also known as Black Friday.

Students return to class on Monday, Dec. 1.

Both public and Catholic school students will need to wait a bit for their next day off, but the wait will be worth it for winter recess.

The break will begin for both public and Catholic school students on Christmas Eve, or Dec. 24.

Classes will resume after winter recess in the new year on Monday, Jan. 5.
