{"id":47504,"date":"2025-11-21T16:52:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T16:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/47504\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T16:52:06","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T16:52:06","slug":"pro-life-influencer-attacked-in-nyc-files-lawsuit-after-da-alvin-bragg-drops-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/47504\/","title":{"rendered":"Pro-life influencer attacked in NYC files lawsuit after DA Alvin Bragg drops case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A conservative pro-life influencer who went viral after being punched in the face during a street interview in\u00a0New York City\u00a0has filed a lawsuit against her alleged attacker.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/26\/us-news\/manhattan-da-quietly-drops-case-against-nyc-woman-who-sucker-punched-pro-life-activist\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Savannah Craven Antao<\/a>,\u00a0pro-life activist\u00a0and host of the YouTube channel \u201cHer Patriot Voice,\u201d says she was conducting man-on-the-street interviews for the organization Live Action on April 3 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/04\/us-news\/pro-life-activist-punched-in-the-face-during-street-interview-about-abortion\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">when she was repeatedly struck<\/a> by Brianna J. Rivers, 30, of the Bronx.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, filed Nov. 18 in Bronx Supreme Court, Craven Antao went to the emergency room for stitches after the attack, incurring more than $3,000 in medical bills. Her attorneys at the Thomas More Society allege that Rivers has \u201cknowingly, willfully and maliciously continued to mock [Savannah] and her views online in order to further inflict emotional distress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit also claims Rivers mocked Craven Antao\u2019s religious beliefs and marketed merchandise referencing the assault. One alleged post showed a T-shirt design with the word \u201cBAM!\u201d and an image of a fist striking a face \u2014 which the complaint says Rivers and her cousin created to raise money for her legal defense.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/05\/us-news\/woman-who-punched-pro-life-activist-claims-she-was-goaded-into-violence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Craven Antao\u2019s attorneys say<\/a> the influencer has suffered symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and has received hundreds of death threats since the incident. Rice<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/11\/us-news\/brute-who-sucker-punched-pro-life-activist-during-street-interview-arrested-nypd\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rivers was initially charged<\/a> with second-degree assault, but the case was dismissed in July after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg\u2019s office failed to turn over discovery on time. The lawsuit criticizes\u00a0Bragg\u2019s office\u00a0for downgrading the charge to a misdemeanor and later allowing it to lapse.<\/p>\n<p>Craven Antao also slammed Bragg\u2019s handling of her case in an interview with Fox News Digital this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to look over my shoulder and worry about if somebody who supports her actions \u2014 there are a lot of people out there that do \u2014 that they\u2019re going to try to do something else,\u201d she said. \u201cBecause what the DA Alvin Bragg himself has shown to people, with letting this case be dropped, is that they can go assault somebody and hurt them if they disagree with them and nothing is going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Savannah Craven Antao,\u00a0pro-life activist\u00a0and host of the YouTube channel \u201cHer Patriot Voice,\u201d says she was conducting man-on-the-street interviews for the organization Live Action on April 3. Live Action\/YouTube<\/p>\n<p>In September, Bragg\u2019s office issued\u00a0a statement\u00a0acknowledging a filing error and apologizing to Craven Antao.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery victim deserves their day in court, and our office has reached out to apologize to Ms. Craven Antao for the unacceptable error of missing the discovery deadline,\u201d a spokesperson said. \u201cWe are taking immediate internal steps in light of this case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/05\/us-news\/pro-life-activist-recalls-moment-she-was-punched-during-harlem-interview\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Craven Antao said she decided<\/a> to\u00a0file the lawsuit\u00a0to hold Rivers accountable and send a message.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During one of the interviews, Craven was hit in the face by someone she was interviewing. Live Action\/YouTube<\/p>\n<p>Craven Antao also linked her fears to broader safety concerns for conservative figures, citing the recent killing of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they could do it to somebody like him, who has the resources to have the security and the checks and all the people surrounding him, what does this say for just average journalists \u2026 who don\u2019t have the means to hire a whole security team and be armed?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith all the threats online and the comments she \u2018likes,\u2019 encouraging her behavior, it makes me wonder if the wrong person is going to find me next time and something worse will happen,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p> Brianna Rivers\/Facebook<\/p>\n<p>Rivers previously apologized in an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=24263151453285459&amp;set=a.196410647052876\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">April 5 Facebook post,<\/a>\u00a0saying she was sorry \u201cbut cannot sit around and allow you to continue pushing this one-sided narrative.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand hands being put on someone is never the answer, but throwing rocks and hiding hands is worse.
