THE BRONX (PIX 11) \u2014 Five people in the Bronx, including a 16-year-old, are facing several charges accused of an armed robbery spree that left residents on edge and suspects hauling in more than $100,000 in jewelry.<\/p>\n
According to an indictment, the seven\u00a0incidents\u00a0happened in various neighborhoods in the Bronx, including Kingsbridge, Mott Haven, and Fordham.<\/p>\n
More Local News <\/a><\/p>\n Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark\u2019s office released surveillance videos of the incidents on Friday that she says were carried out in just a two-week period between September and October.<\/p>\n \u201cThe victims included an elderly man sitting on his stoop in Kingsbridge who is so fearful that he moved out of the area, a business owner in Mott Haven who they cut off with a moped, a man standing outside a nightclub in Fordham Heights, and people in vehicles who they would drive up and block them in with their getaway car,\u201d said Clark.<\/p>\n Investigators said the defendants, alleged members of the Trinitarios gang, wore masks and targeted victims wearing gold chains, expensive watches, and rings. They allegedly pointed guns at the victims or held firearms to their bodies while forcibly taking the jewelry. <\/p>\n \u201cI need to highlight this case because these victims\u2019 lives were traumatized and threatened, and some of them fear for their safety forever now,\u201d Clark said. \u201cThey\u2019ll never be the same.\u201d<\/p>\n Only\u00a0some of the jewelry\u00a0has been recovered, according to Clark. The suspects are now facing a slew of charges, including grand larceny, conspiracy, and first-degree robbery. Clark is now sending a strong warning to other criminals in the borough.<\/p>\n
