{"id":48808,"date":"2025-11-22T20:32:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T20:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/48808\/"},"modified":"2025-11-22T20:32:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T20:32:10","slug":"how-paris-jackson-unraveled-like-her-father-michael-and-why-her-family-fear-it-could-happen-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/48808\/","title":{"rendered":"How Paris Jackson unraveled like her father Michael, and why her family fear it could happen again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paris Jackson has never hidden her fragility, but she has recently started to speak more freely about her <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/01\/07\/entertainment\/paris-jackson-reveals-secret-heroin-addiction-on-sober-anniversary\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">heroin addiction<\/a>, emotional collapse, and years of family turmoil.<\/p>\n<p>Sources close to the Jacksons have noted how, in many ways, she mirrored her father\u2019s own descent.<\/p>\n<p>Although now five years sober, Paris, 27, has recently opened fire on the billion-dollar Michael Jackson estate with a blistering <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/14\/entertainment\/paris-jacksons-claim-against-fathers-estate-thrown-out\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">series of legal attacks<\/a>, leaving insiders fearing she may again be slipping toward the darkness she fought so hard to escape, and could end up another tragic chapter in the Jackson legacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis didn\u2019t feel strategic,\u201d a family insider told Page Six of her recent lawsuit. \u201cIt felt emotional. And when Paris is emotional, that\u2019s when the family gets scared. WireImage<\/p>\n<p>Those within the Jackson family had already lived through Paris\u2019 darkest years, which started before she was barely a teenager. They watched her spiral, vanish for days, self-harm, overdose, and crumble under grief and trauma of her father dying suddenly from a doctor-administered drug overdose in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>After her first <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/25\/entertainment\/paris-jackson-makes-startling-claim-against-fathers-estate-dividing-her-family\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">filing against the Jackson estate<\/a> was thrown out by a judge at Los Angeles Superior Court, Paris and her legal team again filed this week, making more detailed claims. It has rattled the family she filed at all, as they suspect she is getting bad advice and under undue influence from outsiders \u2014 the same things which brought down her father.<\/p>\n<p>The Jackson family first attempted an intervention with Michael Jackson in a New York hotel in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns had been mounting since his February Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame induction at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, where family members whispered he looked frail and jittery. Marcel Thomas\/FilmMagic.com<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t look right,\u201d a family member said. \u201cThere were whispers he was drinking Jack Daniel\u2019s like water. And mixing that with the painkillers he\u2019d been taking for years? That scared everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, the family launched intense group therapy sessions in Malibu in a desperate attempt to intervene. Michael refused to participate. Arguments erupted over numerous past chagrins, including patriarch Joe Jackson\u2019s treatment of Michael and his sisters Rebbie and La Toya when they were children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt became impossible,\u201d one source said. \u201cThe hurt was too deep. BAUER-GRIFFIN.COM<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of her struggles come from seeing what her father went through,\u201d a separate insider told The Post. \u201cWomen are always more intuitive. She said that her dad had constantly been telling her that they\u2019re trying to kill me, they\u2019re trying to take you guys away from me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was very paranoid. He was dealing with a lot then, of course. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>But after, all three kids went home to a full-blown family meltdown among the family at their Hayvenhurst compound in Encino. Paris, then 11-years-old, shut down.<\/p>\n<p>She developed what family members called a \u201ccold stare.\u201d She locked herself in her bedroom for days. And when the door was finally cracked open, she was gone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019d disappear,\u201d a family member said. \u201cAnd we panicked every time. She\u2019s Michael Jackson\u2019s daughter\u2014there were real security fears.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In June 2013, less than a month before the fourth anniversary of Michael\u2019s death, emergency services responded to a reported overdose at the home where Paris was living. It was reported at the time she had attempted to cut her wrists, and she later confirmed she had <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/08\/30\/paris-jackson-says-she-was-told-to-kill-herself-if-she-didnt-wish-her-father-a-happy-birthday\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">made a suicide attempt.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a trainwreck,\u201d a source said. \u201cShe wasn\u2019t showing motivation, locked herself in her room, disappearing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At that time Michael\u2019s mother, the family matriarch, Katherine, was already 83. \u201cShe wasn\u2019t equipped for any of this,\u201d a source noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you told [Paris] she needed to be careful, she\u2019d basically say \u2018f\u2013k off,\u2019\u201d another insider said.<\/p>\n<p>Paris during her drugged out years where she would frequently post online while out of it. Paris Jackson\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Paris has admitted she did drugs, including heroin, and had a peroblem with self harm. Paris Jackson\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Paris then became a heroin addict and an alcoholic. She revealed she has a perforated septum, leaving her with a constant involuntary whistle \u2014 damage she recently described saying: the drugs \u201cruined my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her breakdowns were brutal. Some nights she didn\u2019t sleep at all. Some days she slept endlessly. She hid track marks and self-harm scars under oversized clothes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrowing up in that very abnormal environment \u2013 when you are the daughter of someone who was the biggest star to ever live in this world, that\u2019s why she turned to drugs to deal with the emotional and physical pain of it as well,\u201d the insider said.<\/p>\n<p>Her brother Prince Jackson begged for intervention. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>Onceshe started receiving money from the estate, Paris\u2019 instability manifested itself in other ways. Insiders say she once bought as many as seven homes in quick succession.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe now believes she has a problem with how the estate is handling money?\u201d one family source questioned. \u201cImagine if she had full control. She would buy a house, find that she doesn\u2019t like it, and then purchase another one. Is that rational?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another insider was much blunter. \u201cSeven friggin houses? Who is she, Jeff Bezos?\u201d the source said, referring to the billionaire Amazon founder who owns many homes across the world.<\/p>\n<p>Then this week Paris doubled down on her accusations against her own estate executors.<\/p>\n<p>In her new filing, she accused John Branca and John McClain of deliberately delaying the probate case, which is in charge of her father\u2019s affairs until a judge rules it should be closed and passed along to her and her brothers to manage.<\/p>\n<p>Paris claims while she and her brothers wait for the inheritance Michael intended them to have, the estate is sitting on more than $460 million in cash which earns almost no returns and the executors have paid themselves enormous compensation packages and poured tens of millions into their pet projects.<\/p>\n<p>Paris Jackson shows off perforated septum caused by years of drug abuse. \u201cIt\u2019s from what you think it is\u201d she wrote online.  parisjacksonbrasil\/Tiktok<\/p>\n<p>Prince Jackson, Paris Jackson, and Bigi Jackson on the red carpet in 2024 at a the opening of \u201cMJ: The Musical.\u201d Alan Chapman\/Dave Benett\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Pointing to account records for 2021, she says Branca and McClain took $8 million in executor compensation, plus another $2 million went to Branca\u2019s law firm.<\/p>\n<p>Paris claims the pattern is clear: the longer probate drags on, the richer the executors get.<\/p>\n<p>However, some fear these filings are the meddling of a third party<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/03\/21\/entertainment\/michael-jackson-son-blanket-in-legal-battle-with-grandmother-katherine-over-estate-funds\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> pulling the strings <\/a>behind the scenes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClearly, there are family members who have opposed this estate from Day one, and some who haven\u2019t given up trying to upset the apple cart,\u201d a source close to the Jacksons told the Post.<\/p>\n<p>The Estate has fired back hard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the beneficiaries are well taken care of \u2026 This is another misguided attempt by Paris Jackson\u2019s attorneys to provide themselves cover,\u201d a source close to the Estate said.<\/p>\n<p>Paris made a series of empowering posts to celebrate her five years of sobriety. Paris Jackson\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Paris also blasted the upcoming biopic \u201cMichael,\u201d alleging Branca of using estate funds to produce a film, despite having no experience with movies, and casting<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/07\/entertainment\/miles-teller-is-unrecognizable-in-michael-jackson-biopic-trailer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> A-lister Miles Teller <\/a>to play himself.<\/p>\n<p>However, after the recent release of the film\u2019s trailer, some think the movie has potential to become the highest-grossing biopic ever.<\/p>\n<p>Paris\u2019 lawyers argue the executors\u2019 compensation through 2021 exceeds $148 million and accuses them of running the estate \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/06\/28\/entertainment\/michael-jackson-was-500-million-in-debt-when-he-died-new-court-docs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">valued at around $3 billion<\/a> \u2014 like a private entertainment investment fund.<\/p>\n<p>A longtime Jackson associate reiterated: \u201cMichael died more than five hundred million dollars in debt. The estate cleared it and built a fortune.
