Regina Police Service\/<\/p>\n<p>Investigators have identified at least 24 women in court documents, but a source familiar with the probe<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/canada\/article-for-years-he-texted-vulnerable-women-then-they-found-out-who-he-was\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"> told the Globe and Mail<\/a> that the number may reach 30.<\/p>\n<p>The patterns described by multiple women are strikingly similar, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n<p>Semenchuck would use an alias and send a text claiming intent to have sent the message to another number, it was alleged. The seemingly innocent text then led to a casual exchange that turned into constant messaging, according to women interviewed by Canadian press outlets.<\/p>\n<p>Semenchuck would frequently use the names \u201cJay Lewis\u201d or \u201cSteve Perkins\u201d while presenting himself as a contractor or project manager, according to the reports.<\/p>\n<p>K, an Indigenous woman recovering from domestic abuse, received an unusual message while staying in a women\u2019s shelter.<\/p>\n<p>She told Globe and Mail that the text felt like a lifeline at her lowest moment and that she continued correspondence for a period of four years.<\/p>\n<p>It was only in 2023 did she begin questioning who he really was.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was like, \u2018Do I really know this guy?\u2019\u201d she told Globe and Mail.<\/p>\n<p>When she ran a photo he had sent her through facial-recognition software, it returned an image of a man sitting at a desk with a police jacket hanging behind him.<\/p>\n<p>A police acquaintance confirmed it was Semenchuk, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.77777778;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37742310\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/regina-police-officer-facing-charges-116070718.png\" alt=\"Semenchuck pleaded guilty on Friday to using the Regina Police Service database to pursue intimate relationships with around 30 women.\" class=\"wp-image-37742310\"  \/>Semenchuck pleaded guilty on Friday to using the Regina Police Service database to pursue intimate relationships with around 30 women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t describe the feeling, everything that went through my head in that moment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the first things that hit me was fear. Fear of this person, his power and what he could do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>K contacted police, triggering an internal investigation which lasted for two years. She said the man she knew was a fiction.<\/p>\n<p>C, another woman, told Globe and Mail she received a message from someone identifying himself as Steve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was 18 years trying to find someone, and I didn\u2019t know how to go about it,\u201d she told the publication.<\/p>\n<p>Their relationship lasted a year and a half. She said parts felt affectionate, but Steve became controlling and demanding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was sex-crazed,\u201d she said, describing constant pressure to send explicit photos.<\/p>\n<p>She struggled to understand why she was targeted. \u201cHow did he know who I was? Why did he choose me?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Meghan Hillsdon, a disabled single mother recovering from spinal surgery and grieving the death of her father, told Globe and Mail she responded to a wrong-number message days before Christmas in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>She later learned police believed she had been targeted by Semenchuck.<\/p>\n<p>Another woman, identified as H, said Semenchuk contacted her in his capacity as a police officer after a domestic violence incident in 2019, then sent late-night messages for months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was constant,\u201d she said. She recalled her mother\u2019s reaction when she described the texts: \u201cThat\u2019s really inappropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Post has sought comment from Semenchuck\u2019s attorney.
