Nydia Vel\u00e1zquez, whose district covers parts of north Brooklyn and western Queens, became the second longtime incumbent in the New York City delegation to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/nydia-velazquez-announces-retirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">announce she will not be seeking reelection<\/a> next year on Thursday night. Both Vel\u00e1zquez and U.S. Rep.
