A Long Island home health aide allegedly stabbed her sleeping elderly patient with a chef\u2019s knife and held the blade in her body for an \u201cexcruciating\u201d 16 minutes, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n
Amanda Fraser, 23,\u00a0was indicted on attempted murder charges for allegedly stabbing her 84-year-old patient as she slept in her Massapequa home in the early hours of Oct. 29, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced Friday.<\/p>\n

Fraser, of Queens, allegedly entered the unidentified woman\u2019s home around 2:08 a.m. and walked into her bedroom before forcefully plunging an eight-inch blade into her torso, an investigation and video evidence revealed.<\/p>\n
The elderly patient woke up, \u201cmoaning in pain,\u201d and tried to remove the knife from her body, authorities added. <\/p>\n
However, Fraser allegedly held a grip on the knife handle and ominously told the patient, \u201cJust let go,\u201d and \u201cstop fighting it,\u201d while the blade was still inside her. <\/p>\n
By 2:24 a.m., Fraser pulled the knife from the woman\u2019s body and left her home, according to the DA.<\/p>\n
When cops arrived hours later for a requested welfare check at around 8:30 a.m., they found the elderly victim bleeding from her stab wound.<\/p>\n
She was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center for a puncture wound to her lung, authorities said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the middle of the night as her elderly patient laid in her bed, this defendant allegedly brandished an approximately eight-inch blade and plunged it into the sleeping woman\u2019s body,\u201d Donnelly said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor an excruciating 16 minutes as the woman moaned in agony, Amanda Fraser \u2013 the woman\u2019s home health aide \u2013 held the knife firm in her body and repeatedly whispered for the woman to succumb,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhen she did not die, the defendant left the home, and the woman she was employed to care for, bleeding and alone in her bed,\u201d Donnely added.<\/p>\n
\u201cFamilies rely on the skill and compassion of home health aides to care for ailing loved ones. This defendant allegedly only brought pain and horror to their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
The victim remained in the hospital for treatment of an infection that stemmed from the stab wound until this week, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Police also discovered Fraser\u2019s Dodge Charger parked in the middle of her patient\u2019s front lawn, officials added. <\/p>\n
