STATEN ISLAND, N.Y \u2014 Ten speed cameras on Staten Island generated more than $2 million in fines in a roughly three-month span, according to new data from New York City.<\/p>\n
These 10 cameras \u2014 part of a network of roughly 230 permanent and mobile speed cameras across the borough \u2014 issued 41,479 tickets between the end of July and Oct. 28, the latest data available from the New York City Department of Finance.<\/p>\n
This represents nearly one-third of all speed camera tickets issued on Staten Island in that span.<\/p>\n
With a $50 fine per speeding ticket, that totals just under $2.1 million in fines from the top 10 cameras alone.<\/p>\n
In total, 113,847 summonses were recorded between July 29 and Oct. 28, bringing the total number of tickets issued in 2025 to 368,146, according to the numbers.<\/p>\n
Staten Island speed cameras have generated around $18.4 million in fines so far in 2025, according to the data.<\/p>\n
Using publicly available information from New York City\u2019s Open Data portal<\/a>, the Staten Island Advance\/SILive.com looked at speed camera violations for 2025 published by the Department of Finance.<\/p>\n Here are the 10 most active speed cameras on Staten Island, according to city data collected from the end of July through most of October.<\/p>\n 10.
