{"id":5050,"date":"2025-10-16T16:22:05","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T16:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/5050\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T16:22:05","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T16:22:05","slug":"queens-breast-cancer-survivors-unite-for-forest-hill-fundraiser-qns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/5050\/","title":{"rendered":"Queens breast cancer survivors unite for Forest Hill fundraiser \u2013 QNS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"699\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/queens-breast-cancer-survivors-forest-hills-fundraiser01.jpg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"A fundraiser will be held in Forest Hills to support Jeanette Mercado, a young woman living with Stage 4 breast cancer.\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>A fundraiser will be held in Forest Hills to support Jeanette Mercado, a young woman living with Stage 4 breast cancer. <\/p>\n<p>Photo provided by Clara Ramsey<\/p>\n<p>As the nation recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness month during October, a <a href=\"https:\/\/qns.com\/neighborhoods\/forest-hills\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Forest Hills<\/a> woman has organized a fundraiser at Bloom Botanical Bistro on Friday, Oct. 17, from 7 to 10 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Breast cancer survivor Clara Ramsey collaborated with <a href=\"https:\/\/thebreasties.org\/reclaim-october\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Reclaim October<\/a>, a community-led initiative founded by Trish Michelle, a breast cancer survivor and Chief Community Officer of The Breasties, a national nonprofit that supports and empowers individuals affected by breast and gynecologic cancers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-587000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/queens-breast-cancer-survivors-forest-hills-fundraiser02.jpeg\" alt=\"The event was organized by Forest Hills breast cancer survivor Clara Ramsey in memory of her mother, Lesley Connelly, who died last year from metastatic breast cancer. \" width=\"1024\" height=\"1338\"  \/>The event was organized by Forest Hills breast cancer survivor Clara Ramsey in memory of her mother, Lesley Connelly, who died last year from metastatic breast cancer.Photo provided by Clara Ramsey<\/p>\n<p>In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, local breast cancer survivors, advocates, and community members will gather at the bistro, located at 103-19 Metropolitan Ave. in Forest Hills, for an evening of fundraising, connection, and hope.<\/p>\n<p>The event is being held to raise funds for Stage 4 breast cancer research through <a href=\"https:\/\/mageewomens.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Magee-Women\u2019s Research Institute<\/a> and to support Jeanette Mercado, a young woman living with Stage 4 breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is personal for us,\u201d Ramsey said. \u201cI met Jeanette through the breast cancer community on Instagram, and we instantly connected and have remained friends since. We are rallying together not just for Jeanette but for every woman fighting Stage 4 breast cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event is also being held in loving memory of Ramsey\u2019s mother, Leslie Connelly, who passed away in March 2024 from metastatic breast cancer. Food and drinks will be served by Bloom Botanical Bistro.
