Designed by Danish architect <a href=\"https:\/\/davidthulstrup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">David Thulstrup<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dinesen.com\/en\/inspiration\/dinesen-apartment-by-david-thulstrup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Dinesen Apartment<\/a> feels like stepping inside a quiet, cozy haven that displays how good materials can transform a space.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/design-milk.com\/?attachment_id=590569\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-590569 nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-590569\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/David-Thulstrup-Dinesen-Apartment-New-York-2-810x1261.jpg\" alt=\"Minimalist room with a wooden table and chairs, and a large wooden bookshelf containing a few small items and books against a light wall.\" width=\"810\" height=\"1261\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Spread across two floors of a sculptural <a href=\"https:\/\/solidobjectives.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">SO\u2014IL<\/a>\u2013designed building, the apartment doesn\u2019t simply display Dinesen\u2019s signature oak. Thulstrup uses the material almost like an anchor point \u2013 a grounding element that organizes everything around it. Floors flow seamlessly into wall cladding. A staircase climbs in Layers Oak. Even the headboard gets in on the action. The effect is less \u201cshowroom installation\u201d and more \u201csomeone with impeccable taste moved in and left the door open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/design-milk.com\/?attachment_id=590570\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-590570 nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-590570\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/David-Thulstrup-Dinesen-Apartment-New-York-2m-810x1074.jpg\" alt=\"A white ceramic teapot, sugar bowl, and teacup with blue floral patterns are arranged on a wooden table with a beige background.\" width=\"810\" height=\"1074\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The apartment\u2019s main component is Dinesen\u2019s Layers Oak in the Classic variant, a serene backdrop that\u2019s engineered for elegance. Where Thulstrup wants a little more depth and texture, he enlists Layers HeartOak \u2013 complete with natural cracks stitched together with delicate butterfly joints \u2013 a reminder that the wood from a tree was once living and grew in its own unique way, with \u201cimperfections\u201d and all.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/design-milk.com\/?attachment_id=590571\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-590571 nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-590571\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/David-Thulstrup-Dinesen-Apartment-New-York-3-810x1215.jpg\" alt=\"Minimalist dining room with wooden table and chairs, built-in wooden shelves, and large window allowing natural light. Dinesen\u2019s wood, grown over decades, carries a quiet power. This project allows visitors to feel that in a completely immersive way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/design-milk.com\/?attachment_id=590572\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-590572 nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-590572\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/David-Thulstrup-Dinesen-Apartment-New-York-4-810x540.jpg\" alt=\"Minimalist living space with large window, light wood furniture, built-in shelves, and a view of a small terrace garden outside.\" width=\"810\" height=\"540\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The furniture is arranged in curated groupings, including Thulstrup\u2019s own Arv Collection for Brdr. Kruger and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/design-milk.com\/john-pawson-unveils-minimalist-furniture-collection-with-dinesen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">John Pawson\u2019s collection for Dinesen<\/a>, with upholstery in Sahco\u2019s Levino fabric. Nothing feels too precious or staged. Instead, it feels lived in, even if it\u2019s only temporarily. To finish off the spaces, Thulstrup brings in Danish vintage pieces by <a href=\"https:\/\/design-milk.com\/tag\/arne-jacobsen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Arne Jacobsen<\/a> and Severin Hansen for <a href=\"https:\/\/design-milk.com\/tag\/dagmar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Dagmar<\/a>, and this collaborative project becomes an apartment-like showroom, layering decades of Scandinavian craft into one cohesive design. \u201cI like to layer different timelines and characters \u2013 contemporary, classic, and crafted,\u201d says Thulstrup. \u201cThe overall mood is quiet and grounded. Guests are encouraged to wander, sit, and experience the space as if they lived there.
