Photo courtesy of Connie Zhou<\/p>\n<p>BROOKLYN HEIGHTS\/DUMBO \u2014 Changes are coming to the restaurant scene in Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO, with some old favorites closing and new spots opening up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Family-friendly Ziggy\u2019s Roman Cafe at 15 Main St. in DUMBO  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ziggysromancafe.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opened Thursday<\/a> and has been packed ever since, said Helen Zhang, who owns Ziggy\u2019s with husband Igor Hadzismajlovic and partner Edo Ademovic. Photo courtesy of Connie Zhou<\/p>\n<p>With a small play space on the mezzanine upstairs, \u201cThe 5 o\u2019clock seating is very popular with the parents who want to feed their kids and then get them to bed before 7 p.m.,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>Even minus the kids, the food and cocktails are a draw. \u201cWe\u2019re doing simple Roman classics \u2014 straightforward but delicious, thoughtfully-presented food.\u201d Zhang added, \u201cPeople should order the bucatini, the maccheroni, the chickery salad, the suppli sticks \u2014 and the steak is incredible \u2026 And of course, the thin-crust Roman-style pizzas.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-351780\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/restaurants-new-old-01-Colonie-Mary-Frost-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"Highly-rated Colonie at 127 Atlantic Ave. will be closing on Nov. 30. Photo: Mary Frost, Brooklyn Eagle<\/p>\n<p>One surprise \u2014 Colonie, at 127 Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn Heights, is closing on Nov. 30 after nearly 14 years in business. Always making the lists as one of the best places to dine in Brooklyn Heights, owners Emelie Kihlstr\u00f6m and Elise Rosenberg made the  <a href=\"https:\/\/andreastrong.substack.com\/p\/colonie-and-hildur-to-close?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">decision to close<\/a> due to expiring leases, rising costs and changing dining trends since the pandemic, according to to restaurant Substack \u201cThe Strong Buzz\u201d by Andrea Strong. Photo: Mary Frost, Brooklyn Eagle<\/p>\n<p>Opening later this month: Workers were busy over the weekend putting together a new Afghan bakery, Dilj\u0101n, at 330 Hicks St. near Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights. The site was formerly the home of Fatoosh Pitza &amp; Grill. According to Eater, the star of the show will be  <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/news\/406223\/diljan-bakery-nyc-afghan-breads-little-flower-cafe-bryan-ford\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Afghan flatbread<\/a>, meant to be \u201cripped and dipped into condiments like honey, pomegranate, molasses, eggplant, and different chutneys.\u201d Workers told the Eagle they expect the site to be ready in about two weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-351776\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/restaurants-new-old-05-Clover-Hill-Mary-Frost-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"Clover Hill at 20 Columbia St. in Brooklyn Heights has closed. Photo: Mary Frost, Brooklyn Eagle<\/p>\n<p>Clover Hill has closed: Sources including Eater said they were informed that the Michelin-starred eatery at 20 Columbia Place in the shady Willowtown section of Brooklyn Heights  <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/new-york-restaurant-news\/405835\/clover-hill-closed-nyc-restaurant\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">had shuttered<\/a>. The Observer notes the new restaurant draws inspiration from the existing ABC restaurants (ABC Kitchen,  <a href=\"https:\/\/observer.com\/company\/abcv\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ABcV<\/a> and  <a href=\"https:\/\/observer.com\/company\/abc-cocina\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ABC Cocina<\/a>), including the \u201cbeloved  <a href=\"https:\/\/observer.com\/list\/best-new-restaurant-openings-new-york-city-november-2025\/#abc-kitchens\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">crab toast<\/a> with dill and lemon aioli.\u201d You can expect ABC Kitchen\u2019s  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abckitchensdumbo.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Greenmarket fare<\/a>, \u201cABCV\u2019s innovative plant-based dishes and ABC Cocina\u2019s global flavors, under one roof,\u201d according to the restaurant\u2019s website. An interior retail space transforms into a dining room by night, which is fun.<\/p>\n<p>Also, not so new but worth a mention is Barbuto, which opened in September at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge (replacing the Osprey), bringing James Beard Award-winning Chef Jonathan Waxman\u2019s California-Italian cuisine to DUMBO.
