In the \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d 30th anniversary reunion special, the cast addressed the death of Sawyer Sweeten.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The sitcom aired on CBS from 1996 to 2005, following the antics of Ray Barone (Ray Romano) and his family, including his wife Debra (Patricia Heaton), their kids (played by real-life siblings Sawyer, Sullivan and Madylin Sweeten), Ray\u2019s brother Robert (Brad Garrett) and their parents, Marie (Doris Roberts) and Frank (Peter Boyle).\u00a0<\/p>\n
During \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond: 30th Anniversary Reunion,\u201d <\/a>which aired on CBS at 8 p.m. on Monday and streams on Paramount+, cast members reunited onstage and went down memory lane. Sonja Flemming\/CBS<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve got plenty of good memories of playing tag in the bleachers and the prop room,\u201d said Sullivan, 30, who was Sawyer\u2019s identical twin.\u00a0<\/p>\n Romano then said, \u201cCan we mention,\u201d and Madylin, 34, interrupted to say, \u201cSawyer? Yes.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Sawyer died by suicide at age 19<\/a> in 2015.\u00a0<\/p>\n At the time, Romano told The Post that he was \u201cshocked\u201d and \u201cterribly saddened\u201d over the news.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was a wonderful and sweet kid to be around,\u201d Romano added. \u201cJust a great energy whenever he was there. My heart breaks for him, his family and his friends during this very difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n In the reunion special, Romano said, \u201cSo, Sawyer, of course, is no longer with us, and we miss him.\u201d<\/p>\n Ray Romano and Brad Garrett in the \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d reunion special. CBS via Getty Images<\/p>\n Addressing the two other Sweeten siblings, he said, \u201cAnd he, just like you are, was this bright energy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cNone of us really expected what happened,\u201d said Sullivan, referring to his twin\u2019s tragic death.\u00a0<\/p>\n He added, \u201cBut I try to think about the good moments. And oftentimes, that\u2019s here on the set.\u201d<\/p>\n Madylin added that she thinks it\u2019s \u201cso important\u201d in any conversation about her late brother to bring up the topic of suicide prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re very passionate in our family about suicide prevention. It is the second leading cause of death between ages 18 to 25.
