The controversial winner of the World\u2019s Strongest Woman competition was stripped of her title Tuesday after organizers claimed the hulking American never told them she was born a man<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jammie Booker was disqualified just days after she destroyed the competition at the Official Strongman Games World Championship in Arlington, Texas, over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Organizers said Booker, from Philadelphia, violated the contest\u2019s rules, which clearly stipulate that athletes must compete in the category that aligns with their biological sex at birth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt appears that an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women\u2019s Open category,\u201d organizers said in a social media statement announcing the decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficial Strongman officials were unaware of this fact ahead of the competition and we have been urgently investigating since being informed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHad we been aware, or had this been declared at any point before or during the competition, this athlete would not have been permitted to compete in the Woman\u2019s Open category,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n

The move comes after the runner-up, UK lifter Andrea Thompson, was filmed storming off the podium as she raged about the \u201cbulls\u2013t\u201d decision to award the title to Booker.<\/p>\n

Thompson is now the winner, which many online supporters had called her all along.<\/p>\n

Organizers said the places will now be altered accordingly in the wake of Booker\u2019s disqualification.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are clear \u2014 competitors can only compete in the category for the biological sex recorded at birth,\u201d organizers said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficial Strongman is inclusive and proud to run events which do not discriminate against athletes based on personal characteristics. Any athlete is welcome. But it is our responsibility to ensure fairness and ensure athletes are assigned to men or women\u2019s categories based on whether they are recorded as male or female at birth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three-time champ\u00a0Rebecca Roberts led the backlash \u2014 quickly claiming that no one was aware of Booker\u2019s gender at birth.<\/p>\n

\u201cTransgender women, people born male, should not be competing in the women\u2019s category,\u201d she said in a statement prior to Booker being stripped of the title.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened this weekend wasn\u2019t transparent. None of us knew. Not even the organizers knew. And when fairness is taken by surprise, trust in the sport begins to crack.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy message is simple.\u00a0Trans people belong in sport, but women\u2019s divisions must remain biologically born female-only,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Booker, meanwhile, hasn\u2019t publicly addressed her disqualification.
