President Trump lashed out at a New York Times reporter Wednesday morning after she co-authored an unflattering story about his health<\/a>, calling her \u201cugly, both inside and out\u201d in his latest outburst toward a female journalist.<\/p>\n

\u201c[T]he Radical Left Lunatics in the soon to fold New York Times did a hit piece on me that I am perhaps losing my Energy, despite facts that show the exact opposite,\u201d the 79-year-old raged over Tuesday\u2019s story. \u201cThey know this is wrong, as is almost every thing that they write about me, including election results, ALL PURPOSELY NEGATIVE. This cheap \u2018RAG\u2019 is truly an \u2018ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump then rounded on Times White House correspondent<\/a> Katie Rogers, who co-authored the story and who the president claimed \u201cis assigned to write only bad things about me [and] is a third rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wednesday\u2019s blast follows Trump admonishing a female Bloomberg News reporter<\/a>, \u201cQuiet, piggy,\u201d during a gaggle on board Air Force One Nov. 14 as she attempted to ask him a question about the Jeffrey Epstein case files.<\/p>\n

The Times story concluded that Trump \u201chas fewer public events on his schedule and is traveling domestically much less than he did by this point during his first year in office, in 2017, although he is taking more foreign trips.<\/p>\n

Last month, Trump revealed that he underwent a MRI during an Oct. 10 \u201ccheck-up\u201d at Walter Reed Medical Center. Over the summer, the White House\u00a0acknowledged\u00a0that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, which causes swelling in the ankles and legs.<\/p>\n

Trump is the oldest man ever elected to the presidency and the second-oldest commander-in-chief in US history after former President Joe Biden. If the Republican serves out his full four-year term, he will take that record from Biden.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a Nov. 19, 2021, Times article<\/a>\u00a0co-written by Rogers, concerns about Biden\u2019s age were referenced in the context of Republican or conservative commentators\u2019 attacks about the 46th president\u2019s \u201cfitness for office.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthew Dallek, the only presidential historian quoted in the piece, told the outlet:\u00a0\u201cBiden appears to be much more straightforward than a lot of presidents and more transparent in the 10 months or so he\u2019s been on the job, but because we don\u2019t have access to all of the details, it\u2019s very hard to rely completely on these reports.\u201d<\/p>\n

The article noted that the president hadn\u2019t submitted to any cognitive exam during his annual physical.<\/p>\n

The Times published\u00a0other pieces<\/a>\u00a0during Biden\u2019s presidency reflecting\u00a0on the issue of his age<\/a>\u00a0and mental fitness, though with a more notable frequency as\u00a0his re-election campaign neared<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several of those articles\u00a0made reference<\/a>\u00a0to his light schedule and efforts by his aides to choreograph\u00a0his every public appearance \u2014 while often-anonymous staffers were quoted stating that the president remained mentally sharp in closed-door meetings.<\/p>\n

AG Sulzberger, the publisher of the Gray Lady, said in a February 2024 interview with the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism that the Biden White House was\u00a0\u201cextremely upset<\/a>\u201d with his paper\u2019s coverage.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a historically unpopular incumbent and the oldest man to ever hold this office,\u201d Sulzberger said.\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ve reported on both of those realities extensively, and the White House has been extremely upset about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
