NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2013 New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has asked some City Hall employees to resign from their positions when he takes office on Jan. 1, his spokesperson confirmed to PIX11 News on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The New York Times<\/a> reported that the resignations, which will affect 179 workers, will change staffing in political offices, including those overseen by deputy mayors.<\/p>\n More Local News <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cAs is standard practice for a mayoral transition, the Mayor-elect and his transition team are working to build their City Hall plan, which includes new staff in key roles to ensure they can deliver effectively on their agenda,\u201d a spokesperson for Mamdani told PIX11 News in a statement.<\/p>\n Mamdani recently announced he\u2019s appointed more than 400 city leaders to 17 transition committees<\/a>, which \u201cwill be tasked with not only making personnel recommendations but policy recommendations.\u201d<\/p>\n His direct transition team includes alums of both the de Blasio and Adams administrations<\/a>.<\/p>\n Mamdani also plans to keep NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch<\/a> in her role, citing the sharp decrease in crime since she took the helm.<\/p>\n His chief of staff is Elle Bisgaard-Church, who managed his own primary campaign, and former first deputy mayor for de Blasio, Dean Fuleihan<\/a>, will serve the same position in Mamdani\u2019s City Hall.<\/p>\n More News: Politics <\/a><\/p>\n Over 70,000 applicants <\/a>have also applied for jobs in Mamdani\u2019s administration.
