Critics are lambasting MS NOW correspondent Ken Dilanian for seemingly suggesting the suspect who\u00a0critically injured two National Guardsmen<\/a>\u00a0near the White House was reacting to \u201ccontroversy\u201d surrounding uniformed Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in American cities.<\/p>\n

Dilanian, a justice and intelligence correspondent for the network, pitched his two cents on the devastating shooting while on-air Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201c[O]f course, you know, there\u2019s so much controversy happening in the United States right now with ICE, who are also wearing uniforms and wearing masks. And so there\u2019s, you don\u2019t know, people walking around with uniforms in an American city. There are some Americans that might object to that. And so apparently this shooting has happened,\u201d he said during an MS NOW breaking news report.<\/p>\n

The shooting, which law enforcement officials said was\u00a0a targeted \u201cambush<\/a>,\u201d critically wounded two National Guardsmen, including one who was believed to be shot in the head.<\/p>\n

Many online users struggled to fathom Dilanian\u2019s contrarian perspective that brushed over the severity of the flagrant attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou do realize two people were murdered? Surely you know this,\u201d one user wrote on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeave it to MS FakeNews to victim blame,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an insane take and no pushback. You can\u2019t hate the media enough,\u201d one user wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cA day before Thanksgiving, two families have lost their loved ones. How dare you say this?\u201d another blasted.<\/p>\n

After the shooting, President Trump ordered\u00a0500 additional National Guard troops<\/a>\u00a0be sent to Washington, DC. There are already more than 2,000 stationed in the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n

The suspect, who hasn\u2019t been identified, rounded the corner at 17th and I Street, just blocks away from the White House, around 2:15 p.m. He opened fire on a pair of Guard members, Metro Police Department executive assistant chief Jeffery Carroll\u00a0said at a press conference.<\/p>\n

Other Guard members engaged in \u201csome back and forth\u201d with the nearly-nude suspect before he was also wounded and taken into custody, Carroll said.<\/p>\n

The gunman acted alone and authorities are not currently searching for any additional suspects, officials said. <\/p>\n

The gunman who was wounded during the attack was taken into federal custody, but reportedly isn\u2019t cooperating with authorities. Investigators haven\u2019t specified a motive.<\/p>\n
