A former World Trade Center worker who \u201cnarrowly escaped\u201d the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks has been beaten to death by three teens \u2014 one of whom was just 12 at the time of the attack, according to officials.<\/p>\n
Long Island native Roger Borkum, 64, was found \u201cseverely beaten\u201d just before midnight on Oct. 19 in Downtown Jacksonville, FL., after three teens were seen \u201ckicking and stomping\u201d him, according to an\u00a0arrest report from the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
He was found with blood \u201cpooled\u201d around his head \u2014 and a \u201cblood trail extending down the sidewalk,\u201d the arrest report said. <\/p>\n

The attackers were seen \u201crummaging\u201d through Borkum\u2019s backpack \u2014 and then returned around 20 minutes later, kicking him \u201cmultiple\u201d times, the report said. In total, the same suspects were seen \u201cbattering the victim three separate times,\u201d the police docs said.<\/p>\n
Borkum, a widower who was homeless at the time, died four days later of his injuries.<\/p>\n
Three suspects \u2014 Justin Curry, 13, Marcavion Lacey, 19, and Robert Pope, 17 \u2014 were arrested within hours of the attack. <\/p>\n
